As the workplace continues to evolve, IA Interior Architects aims to rethink not only how the design of physical spaces can better support digital collaboration for hybrid and distributed work, but also how to ensure those working remotely have enhanced culture, brand, and social experiences. Can extended reality engagement be superior to the now ubiquitous web call? Using the design of the firm’s new Atlanta studio, IA explored and contrasted the entire process from beginning to end. By leveraging more than seven years of experience in virtual reality for the built environment, IA shifted to designing for virtual experiences by retooling processes and software tools, such as Revit, 3ds Max, and Unity. IA subsequently analyzed the integration of audio, lighting, and experiential capabilities within the XR platform itself. The project proved to be a success for both internal meetings and client engagement.
